Sonny is horrified to discover the terrible secret Ethan is hiding General Hospital Spoilers
The host opens with excitement before immediately exploding over the latest chaos in Port Charles. They are stunned that Sonny Corinthos, long known as the hardened mob king, has been completely manipulated. After years of watching Sonny survive bad decisions, they consider this his worst mistake yet. The trouble begins when Ethan Lovett suddenly returns to town straight off a plane. Ethan’s first move is to offer Sonny a plan to kill Jen Sidwell. He casually sits in Sonny’s office and presents himself as a useful weapon. Ethan claims Sidwell endangered Holly Sutton, giving him a believable personal motive. Sonny accepts the story and believes Ethan sincerely wants revenge. The narrator cannot believe Sonny trusts a drifter with questionable loyalties so easily. In their view, Sonny has just welcomed disaster through his own front door.
The host insists Ethan is not loyal to Sonny or acting independently at all. Instead, they believe Ethan is secretly working for Ross Cullum. According to this theory, the assassination plot began before Ethan even landed in Port Charles. Sidwell had recently taken Sonny’s piers without approval, making an aggressive power move. But the narrator argues Sidwell went rogue and angered Cullum in the process. Even while recovering in General Hospital after being shot by Rocco, Cullum is said to still control everything. Ethan’s return is therefore described as a carefully scheduled mission ordered from Cullum’s hospital bed. Every word Ethan says to Sonny is portrayed as rehearsed manipulation. Sonny is vulnerable because Jason is in WSB custody, leaving a hole in his organization. Ethan senses that weakness and uses it perfectly to gain Sonny’s trust.
Only Rick Lansing appears to recognize the danger. Rick warns Sonny that Ethan may have been sent to infiltrate the organization. Sonny ignores the warning and chooses to trust Luke Spencer’s son instead. Meanwhile, Lucy Coe arrives with her own scheme to take down Sidwell. Wanting to protect her, Sonny assigns Ethan as Lucy’s bodyguard. The narrator calls this the worst possible mistake because it gives Ethan direct access to Sidwell. As Lucy moves into Sidwell’s orbit, Ethan can now be near the target without raising suspicion. The host predicts a yacht party will become the ideal kill site. Lucy will distract Sidwell while Ethan steps in under the excuse of protecting her. He will then strike, leaving Sidwell dead and chaos behind.
The true brilliance of the plan, according to the narrator, is that Ethan will frame Sonny for the murder. Ethan will stay at the scene, act shocked, and let the PCPD follow the evidence back to Sonny. Public motives already exist because Sonny was forced to sell the piers and openly clashed with Sidwell. Dante and the police could easily see Sonny as a mob boss ordering revenge. Cullum would then eliminate a rogue operative and destroy Sonny at the same time. Lucy would become a traumatized witness while Ethan vanishes with a paycheck and new assignment. Yet one possible wildcard remains: Holly Sutton. The host believes Holly knows her son too well and would quickly sense he is running a con. If she arrives in time, she may have to choose between protecting Ethan or exposing him to save Sonny.
