Phyllis discovers the shocking truth This Week | Young & Restless May 18-22
Nick Newman is heading into a dangerous downward spiral as his secret drug problem grows worse in Genoa City. Although he has been pretending that he is simply hungry or detoxing, the truth is that he has fallen back into drug use. Nick becomes so obsessed with getting rid of Matt that he develops a reckless and terrifying plan to kill him personally. He even intends to convince Detective James Burrow to lie and claim the killing happened in self-defense. Adam and Victor Newman become extremely worried because they know Nick’s actions could easily destroy his life forever. They fear that if Nick goes through with the plan, he could end up in prison and lose everything important to him. The situation becomes even more dangerous because Nick may not realize he is being manipulated from the shadows. There is speculation that Nick’s drug dealer may actually be connected to Matt and secretly working for him. Nick believes he is in control of the situation, but he may instead be walking directly into a carefully planned trap. His addiction, anger, and desperation combine to create one of the most dangerous moments of his life.
Meanwhile, Phyllis Summers is keeping Matt hidden away inside a hotel suite at the Genoa City Athletic Club. She hopes to use Matt as leverage in a high-stakes deal with Victor Newman. Phyllis promises to hand Matt over if Victor agrees to make all the legal charges against her disappear completely. However, Victor refuses to make things simple because he also wants control of Newman Enterprises returned to him as part of the arrangement. Their tense negotiations quickly become a dangerous power struggle where both sides are trying to outsmart the other. While Victor and Phyllis argue over the terms, Matt begins recovering parts of his lost memory. He suddenly remembers Nick attacking him, which changes the entire situation dramatically. There is growing suspicion that Matt may actually be pretending to suffer from amnesia in order to secretly gather information about Phyllis and the Newman family. He could even be recording conversations while acting confused and vulnerable around everyone. If Matt is truly manipulating the people around him, then Phyllis’s entire plan could collapse in a devastating way.
At the Abbott Mansion, Diane Jenkins begins suffering from terrifying nightmares that leave her deeply unsettled. In one disturbing dream, Jack Abbott moves on from her and becomes romantically involved with Patty Williams instead. Diane imagines Patty living inside the Abbott home and even claiming that her long-lost daughter is still alive. The nightmare feels especially frightening because Jack is actually spending time with Patty in real life. Jack hopes to use Patty as part of his revenge scheme against Victor Newman and to help destroy Victor’s marriage to Nikki. However, Patty’s growing closeness to Jack creates emotional risks that Jack may not fully understand. Patty already believes there is chemistry between them, and she could easily develop real romantic feelings for him. Diane starts fearing that her nightmare may not be symbolic at all but instead a warning about what could really happen in the future. If Patty becomes too attached to Jack, Diane could find herself pushed aside and isolated from her own family life. The tension surrounding Jack, Patty, and Diane continues building toward potentially explosive consequences.
The Winters family also faces emotional challenges as Cain Ashby steps up to help save Malcolm Winters by donating bone marrow. Lily Winters feels grateful and emotionally moved by Cain’s willingness to help the family during such a difficult moment. Their growing closeness sparks signs of a romantic reconnection that could eventually rebuild their relationship. Lily and Cain may even share a meaningful romantic moment as old feelings begin returning between them. However, not everyone is happy about the situation unfolding around the Winters family. Devon becomes increasingly angry and frustrated as tensions continue rising within the family. His emotional instability may lead him to visit Mariah while she is receiving treatment in a mental health facility. There is concern that Devon could lose control during the confrontation and accidentally make Mariah’s emotional condition even worse. Across Genoa City, nearly every storyline revolves around danger, emotional instability, and risky personal decisions. Between Nick’s dangerous plan, Phyllis’s risky bargaining, Diane’s fears, and the emotional Winters family drama, the week promises major consequences for everyone involved.
