Y&R Thursday Episode Recap: Phyllis Talks With Matt as Nick Nearly Spots Him

The Young and the Restless centers on growing fear in Genoa City because Matt Clark remains missing and dangerous. Noah Newman and Sienna Beul worry that Matt could strike again before anyone recognizes him. Nick Newman visits Phyllis Summers and warns her that her reckless choices could send her to prison. Phyllis refuses to back down because she still believes she can control the fallout from her actions. Nick grows frustrated when Phyllis ignores his concerns and insists on defending herself. Phyllis briefly softens when she notices Nick seems troubled and asks if he is okay. Nick coldly rejects her concern and storms out, showing how exhausted he is by her behavior. At Sharon Newman’s house, Noah convinces Sienna to rest even though both remain terrified of Matt. Noah later calls Victor Newman hoping for updates about Matt’s whereabouts and his missing car. The lack of answers only deepens the fear because Matt could already be moving through Genoa City unnoticed.

Lily Winters confides in Tracy Abbott about Cain Ashby being a bone marrow match for Malcolm Winters. Although the match offers hope, Cain’s arrest threatens to delay the lifesaving procedure. Lily fears that any legal complication could put Malcolm’s health in even greater danger. At the GCAC, Matt quietly tests whether anyone recognizes him while speaking casually with the bartender. Matt approaches Cain and tries to determine whether they know each other from the past. Cain fails to recognize Matt, allowing the dangerous stranger to remain hidden in plain sight. Holden Novak also misses the chance to identify Matt because other patrons block his view. Cain later admits to Holden that he cannot leave town because the court considers him a flight risk. The restrictions frustrate Cain because Malcolm’s condition may eventually require him to travel. The growing tension shows how multiple lives are becoming entangled in both legal problems and hidden threats.

Phyllis eventually arrives at the GCAC and immediately faces Cain’s anger over her role in his legal troubles. Cain calls Phyllis poison and blames her for throwing his life into chaos during Malcolm’s medical crisis. While Cain vents, Matt watches Phyllis from the bar and begins a strange conversation with her. Phyllis mistakes Matt for an ordinary mysterious stranger and jokingly says she wishes she could erase her own memories. Matt admits that he cannot remember who he really is, making the interaction even more unsettling. Meanwhile, Holden contacts Dr. Stephanie Simmons and learns the retrieval procedure can happen in Genoa City instead of New York. The news removes one obstacle, but Lily still fears delays or mistakes during the transport process. Cain promises Lily that he will even break bail conditions if she needs him in New York. Lily appreciates Cain’s devotion but worries that such a sacrifice could destroy his future. Their emotional struggle highlights the difficult balance between loyalty, love, and reckless desperation.

Elsewhere, Audra Charles and Clare Newman clash after being forced to share the last table at the Park Cafe. Audra mocks Clare’s lost opportunities while Clare fires back by questioning how Audra received her own job. Their sharp exchange exposes the rivalry and insecurity simmering beneath both women’s confidence. Clare later agrees to travel to New York with Holden and becomes curious about Audra’s past in Los Angeles. Back at the GCAC, Nick unknowingly comes close to spotting Matt sitting near Phyllis at the bar. Other patrons block Nick’s view, creating another tense near miss that allows Matt to remain hidden. Noah and Sienna continue fearing that Matt has already returned to Genoa City for revenge. Phyllis remains unaware that the man she casually entertained could be tied to the terror haunting everyone around her. The episode builds suspense by placing Matt in public spaces while the people searching for him stand only steps away. By the end of the story, Genoa City feels trapped between unresolved crimes, emotional conflicts, and the looming danger Matt still represents.
