CBS Y&R Today Recap: Adam Wakes Beside Unconscious Nick – Matt’s Trap Is Already in Motion
Nick Newman has been declared dead in Las Vegas, but the story is a lie designed to deceive his family. Sharon Newman waits anxiously for answers while Nick is actually trapped behind a locked door, weak and barely conscious. Chelsea Lawson calls Sharon from a hotel suite, trying to stay calm while revealing that Nick is missing and Adam has also vanished. Adam had gone with Matt Clark to search for Nick and then stopped answering calls. Sharon immediately senses that something is terribly wrong because sudden silence around Nick always signals danger. Before Chelsea can say more, someone knocks at the suite door. She quickly ends the call with Sharon and cautiously opens it. Matt Clark stands there smiling as if he owns the place. Chelsea demands to know where Nick and Adam are and what Matt has done. Matt coldly claims Nick is dead, then walks away enjoying the fear he created.
Elsewhere, Adam begins to regain consciousness in a dark locked room after being struck on the head. His memory returns and he realizes Matt set them up. He sees Nick lying motionless nearby and panics. Adam shakes Nick repeatedly until Nick finally breathes and begins to move. Relief floods Adam because Nick is alive, though barely. Nick slowly explains that Matt must have drugged him, which caused the weakness and confusion. Adam spots a wall phone and immediately calls Chelsea with their location. Chelsea rushes through the hotel following Adam’s directions until she reaches the locked door. She forces it open and finds Adam bruised but standing, with Nick weak and struggling. She helps both men escape, but Nick secretly pockets drug baggies he spots on the floor before leaving.
Back in the suite, Nick locks himself in the bathroom and secretly uses some of the drugs to steady himself. When he comes out, he looks much better, almost too well, causing Chelsea to grow suspicious. Nick insists they should not call Sharon yet because she would rush to Las Vegas and complicate things. He believes Matt is still nearby and vows not to let him escape. At the same time, Matt enters an elevator carrying Nick’s stolen phone. Pretending to be Nick, he sends Sharon a message claiming he has captured Matt and wants her to come to Vegas. Sharon reads the text and feels instant relief, believing the nightmare is ending. Noah is confused but agrees they should leave immediately if Nick needs them there. Sharon replies that they are on their way, unaware she is walking directly into Matt’s trap. Matt smiles at her response, knowing his next move is already in motion.
Meanwhile, other tensions rise back in Genoa City. Jack Abbott and Nikki Newman discuss their troubled marriages and regrets, but every solution seems impossible. Victor Newman suddenly arrives and immediately fills the room with sarcasm and judgment. Diane Jenkins Abbott then enters and shocks Jack by agreeing that Victor may be right about him. Jack feels betrayed and angrily blames Victor for the chaos surrounding them all. Elsewhere, Lauren Fenmore Baldwin settles into her new office where Michael Baldwin surprises her with flowers, gifts, and champagne. They share a warm dance and intimate moment that briefly pushes aside their worries. Back in Las Vegas, Nick, Adam, and Chelsea leave the suite together to hunt Matt. They do not realize Sharon and Noah are already coming exactly as Matt planned. As the pieces move into place, revenge, lies, and hidden motives promise an explosive confrontation ahead.
